Calling All Creatives: The Sankofa Decks are Just the Beginning

Our #INCOMMUNITY Workshop was successful in its ability to share the Sankofa Initiative and its tools. Expanding the initiative with a once a month in-person workshop that bring people together to provide these tools with our gifts. There has been great feedback, but now it is time to not just talk, but persuade and influence to build the capacity to get this work done.

The Sankofa Deck is a gift from the relationships I’ve nurtured most of my life. With every conversation, every shared moment, every lesson passed down from elder to youth and back again — that’s the soil these cards are rooted in.

Funny how a memory can carry a melody. This week with the first official Sankofa workshop, I found myself humming that simple childhood refrain of a song I heard when I was five.

“Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world…” It reminded me that lovereal love — community love, tough love, radical love — is the fuel that propels this work.

That’s #Sankofa.

That’s the #StrongHistory that permeates every story told.
Each story remembered.
Each story expressed.

We’ve started with the decks. But this vision is expanding.

Starting First Mondays at Rado, we’re launching a monthly #INCOMMUNITY Workshop. It’s not just a gathering — it’s a creative incubator. Together, we’ll partner on how stories are told:

          Maybe a new deck
Maybe a graphic novel or comic book
Maybe something we haven’t dreamed up yet

Calling all Creatives: Writers. Artists. Illustrators. Filmmakers. Poets. Activists If you’ve got a story to tell — or want to be part of telling stories that matter — come through. These workshops will become the heartbeat of something much bigger.

DM me if you’re interested.
Or just show up and bring your gift.
Let’s make something unforgettable — together.
